MASS — NATIONAL GALLERY OF VICTORIA — TRIENNIAL EXHIBITION

In 2017, King’s Fibreglass were proud to complete work for the renowned Australian Artist, Ron Mueck and his latest art exhibit MASS which was commissioned by the National Gallery of Victoria and donated by the Alfred Fenton Bequest, to feature in their Triennial Exhibition. Ron had never outsourced his work before so it was an honour and privilege to be chosen by Ron and the National Gallery of Victoria and to work alongside Ron with him on his project. The project comprised of 100 handmade skulls which were made using 18-piece moulds and ground-breaking techniques and products to create a unique and unmatched art installation. The skulls have a multitude of detail both internally and externally and the realistic bone like finish with each skull which makes every one of them unique. The project ran from the start of 2017 until November 2017 at which point the display was installed in the National Gallery of Victoria for the Triennial Exhibition which was open to the public from the 15th of December 2017 to the 15th of April 2018. Due to the size, cost and complexity of MASS the one-off exhibition doesn’t do the display justice so the National Gallery of Victoria has intentions and plans of MASS touring Australia, New Zealand and Europe throughout the coming years. The Triennial Exhibition was the National Gallery of Victoria’s biggest exhibition to date attracting over 2 million visitors.

HSBC BANK FOYER & PETER MACCALLUM CANCER INSTITUTE

Over the recent months, King’s Fibreglass have been working on major architectural projects being the Peter MacCallum Cancer Council Institute and more recently the HSBC Banking Building in Sydney’s CBD. Both projects had our team of skilled workers going head on and successfully constructing fibreglass additions to the buildings. Both buildings were designed and created in multiple panels which though quite large could fit together easily which allows the building to look both more modern and cleaner.
