Patrick Cunningham from the Motor Neurone Diease Association contacted Glen with the vision of a giant slide. To keep the momentum going from the Worldwide Ice Bucket Challenge, Patrick, Neale Daniher and Ian Davis with the support of the AFL community organized 10 celebrities to slide into ice filled water for the charity. Glen King spent over 100 hours custom designing and building a slide for the event.
Four Slides were cut and joined together to make the slide and reinforced, Glen helped place the slide into the MCG. This event helped bring recognition to raise money for research into the incurable ‘beast’.
The inaugural event was very successful with celebrities such as Sam Newman taking the plunge, the day received vast amounts of media attention with the King’s Fibreglass logo being proudly located at the bottom of the slide.
For the second annual event the slide went under a slight modification to make a smoother and safer ride as nobody wants to see someone land like Sam Newman did again. This event was even more success with stars from across the sporting disciplines turning out to slide into ice in the name of MND foundation. King’s Fibreglass is an ongoing supporting of the MND foundation and will continue to be in the following years.
For the THIRD annual event the slide went under a slight modifications to have a steaper drop into the water with a custom conveyer system being added to the back to help release the sliders for a safer journey. This event has enticed even more stars than ever from across the sporting disciplines turning out to slide into ice in the name of MND foundation. King’s Fibreglass is an ongoing supporting of the MND foundation and will continue to be in the following years.
For the fourth annual event the slide went under minor tough ups and refinished for the event with the slide rasing again and custom steps being added top composite for the height. This event was even more success with the largest intake of stars from across the sporting disciplines turning out to slide into ice in the name of MND foundation. King’s Fibreglass is an ongoing supporting of the MND foundation and will continue to be in the following years.
